National Women's Day

Another beautiful day here and another day of relaxing. Today is a National Holiday in South Africa. It is Women's Day.

National Women's Day is an annual public holiday in South Africa on August 9.

This commemorates the national march of women on this day in 1956 to petition against legislation that required African persons to carry the "pass", special identification documents which curtailed an African's freedom of movement during the apartheid era.

Everything is closed here tomorrow to honour the day.

We decided to have a BBQ (Braai) tonight, so we headed to the local grocery store to get some supplies.

Makai, Adaya and I all napped this afternoon while Mom read and Paul spent the better part of it preparing the BBQ.

I think he thought he was on an episode of Survivor.

When he finally got it working he said, "I made fire....with matches and lighter fluid, but still fire!"

Later in the day, he found the Immunity Necklace (see picture), ensuring he will be here for at least another week! lol

Almost time for bed here and so ends another weekend. We have a busy week ahead....
