Howick Falls

"Sleep my child and peace attend thee...all through the night"....or a good part of it at least, please!

Saturday night we were up at 1am, 3am, 5am,and 7am. Last night.....zzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!

So, after a good night's sleep and well rested children, we headed to the town of Howick to visit the Falls. It was a 45 minute drive on a nice sunny day.

Gogo was in the back seat wedged between 2 car seats singing jingles to keep short attention spans entertained.

The Umgeni River runs through the town of Howick and plunges 300 feet over a waterfall. While we were there many people from an informal settlement nearby were washing their clothes at the top of the falls.

There was also a gentleman sitting by the Falls singing and playing his guitar. When we arrived he was singing "Knocking on Heaven's Door" by Guns and Roses which was followed by "Amazing Grace"...number 206 in your hymnal. Quite funny.

On the way home we stopped at a shopping centre in Pietermaritzburg to have lunch at the Foodcourt...KFC...a little taste of home. A fattening taste, but a taste, nonetheless.

Now we are winding down for the evening. Bedtime for kiddies and some gameplaying for adults...the typical ending to a day here.

We are hoping for news tomorrow that the adoption has been finalized and then we start the Canadian Citizenship process.
